Bringing Fencing to the Eastern Primary Schools of Melbourne

A huge event being awarded numerous awards for ‘best childrens festival in Australia‘ regularly was once again popular with children and adults alike.     Link

Fencing Sessions began at Brighton Grammar GBR Hall in 2013 and continue again in 2014.

If you’d like to be involved or would like to encourage new fencers to attend the sessions at a new location in Melbourne on a Wednesday afternoon from 5:30pm please contact Chris 0409 013 171 or chris@swordfightersaustralia.com

This is a new “club” and is catering to fencers in the “Brighton bayside area”

Fencing is also avaialble with Electric pistes, for senior fencers wishing to add another night to training from 6:30pm

Location Brighton Grammar – Junior School – GBR Hall, parking in Grosvenor St off New St Brighton.

Sword Fighters Australia was proud to be involved in the Syndal District School Sports Association – Wesley College.

Over 400 Grade 6 students from Local Schools Participated in a day long Sporting Activity Session.

Sword Fighters Australia was proud to be involved in the Wodonga Councils, Childrens Festival last weekend.

A great festival on the border of NSW and Victoria, offering locals and interstate travellers numerous festival events.

Over 3000 children and their families attending on a beautiful sunny October Sunday..

Learn the basic skills of fencing and sword fighting in an intensive class.

One of the biggest annual competitions was in held in Paris, France recently.   The CEP French U15       Competition had 450 boys from 30 countries including TC Reynolds AUS who fenced very well.   TC was ranked 58th after the poules,then won his first d/e 10:7.  He then lost to a Polish fencer 10:7 to finish 79th.          Congrats TC !

Sword Fighters Australia was once again proud to be involved with the Fun4Kids Festival in Warrnambool.

Over 10,000 children and parents visited the event, with so much activity and so many different choices!.

A Full Days outing for the kids, and a great experience of shows, dance acts, play areas, entertainers, rides, prizes, animal petting, rock climbing, creative areas, woodwork, painting and toy making, balloon toys and of course Fencing!

Sword Fighter Fencing sessions were a very popular session and ran continuously 10-5pm daily.

Even some unexpected enthusiasts!  

Thanks to South West Tafe students for their great work during the festival week.

Following the success of this competition in 2008, with the largest number of Juniors turning out for the inaugral competition.  Sunday 23rd May 2010 was the day!

A large number of entries of 70+ competed on the day, at the Fencing Victoria “State Fencing Centre” in North Melbourne.

A large group of parents and athletes came to watch and compete, with a number of very helpful volunteers and referee’s on the day.

A good day was had by the participants, special thanks to Virtual Swords for an additional prize to each winner of the competitions.

Sword Fighters Australia has created a new Fencing Game.

“Sword Fighter Tiggy,” is turning out to be a hugely popular game, taking on similar principles to “scarecrow tiggy” a common school playground game.

In Sword Fighter Tiggy its Red team versus Blue team.

When a  Sword Fighter gets “tagged” or hit, they have to stand still like a Scarecrow with their arms extended and with their plastic foil pointing vertically towards the ground.

A team mate can “save” their Sword Fighter Scarecrow team mate by passing their own foil into the open hand of the Sword Fighter Scarecrow and remove their foil. 

Opposition team Sword Fighter’s must not hit opponents in the back, or whilst Sword Fighters  are exchanging foils.

A ‘two second’ rule applies to freeing Sword Fighter Scarecrows, and for safety and reducing exuberance – no running!!

The game ends when one team is stationary in Sword Fighter Scarecrow stance. Only then may masks be removed.

Its a great fun game.

Sword Fighters Australia was proudly involved in a Victorian Winery event in the King Valley located in North Eastern Victoria on the King Valley Road, Whitfield, this weekend.

Pizzini Winery [www.pizzini.com.au]  held their annual Food and Wine Festival on the 14th & 15th November.

Sword Fighters Australia ran numerous Fencing sessions for the children (and parents!), who attended the event in huge numbers.

It was a great weekend and the hot weather helped the social nature of the region fantastically, the food and entertainment was great and the cellar door tastings proved a huge success.
